2 Day Introduction Course

This popular academic and experiential course is a marvelous resource for all health professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of eating disorders/weight issues so that you may work ethically and competently with these common, distressing issues. This introduction course is a stand-alone, pre-foundation module for the Master Practitioner Skills excellence course in Eating Disorders & Obesity.

All participants will broaden their skills base and even gain an understanding of the relationship with food and body weight. It may be particularly beneficial to fully comprehend the complexity and seriousness related to eating disorders helping gain full understanding and skills to effectively support care and healing .

What you will learn

  • An introductory broad overview of eating disorders

  • How to recognize eating disorders.

  • How they may be hidden beneath other mental health conditions.

  • What treatments are available for anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating; and how they may be integrated in your practice in ways that are known to work.

  • How these new skills are used to support recovery and add to your toolbox as a counsellor, coach or teacher.

  • You will also begin the process of transforming your own relationship with food.

Eating disorders are potentially serious but treatable mental health conditions.  Both you and your clients need specific, practical, evidence-based skills to work with people distressed with their eating and body size.
